ABOUT

Dirk_2015 4.jpg

Established in 2015, Vanover Legal, LLC  serves clients in the areas of entertainment law, intellectual property law (trademark, copyright, and right of publicity), and business law in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and beyond.

I founded Vanover Legal to provide high quality entertainment law and intellectual property law representation to clients in Wisconsin and Illinois at reasonable prices, and it has grown to serve clients from around the world. I prefer to collaborate with my clients to meet their legal needs and to empower them with the knowledge they need to help themselves in the future. I know how to quickly and effectively deliver the advice and guidance my clients need without unnecessary expense.

I am based in the Milwaukee area and licensed to practice law in Wisconsin and Illinois. In addition to my law practice, I also write about business and legal issues affecting the comic book and entertainment industries at ComicsLawyer.com, and I am the author of Comics Startup 101: Key Legal and Business Issues for Comic Book Creators. I am a founding board member of the Wisconsin Entertainment Lawyers Association, I serve as the literary publishing division chair of the American Bar Association’s Forum on the Entertainment and Sports Industries, and I served six terms as the chair of the Milwaukee Bar Association’s intellectual property law section.
